Harvest Free Medical Clinic

Volunteers

Volunteers are needed in all areas of our operation since we expanded hours of care.  Pharmacists are particularly important, as clinic physicians must provide both medical and pharmacy services in the absence of a pharmacy volunteer.  Due to the sizable number of Hispanics who receive total care here, bilingual volunteers prove to be extremely valuable.

Additional triage and primary care nurses would be welcomed.  We utilize primary care nurses in direct patient care, under the supervision of the clinic director; a portion of our diabetic patients are managed in this way, following protocols established for the nurses.

Clerical personnel to check patients in and out, to verify eligibility, to handle the telephone volume, and to participate in patient flow within the clinic are needed.  Again, bilingual individuals in the clerical department would be a wonderful asset.

Volunteers may be scheduled for any time commitment desired, from ½ day per month to 1 full day per week.  Our present work force find the experience extremely rewarding and gratifying, as we give our time to this medical care.  Some are retired, some maintain jobs.  We believe that retirees comprise an inadequately utilized source of community service, when the proper organization is present to channel their gifts and time.
